How It Works
ecommStats has two ways of keeping track of your visitors:
1. The first way is by placing a tiny invisible image on the pages of your website. When a visitor clicks around your site, they will request that image from our servers which will then record and process that request for the image. Using our advanced technology, we are able to extract a ton of information about the visitor. This is by far the most common way and the easiest one to setup.
2. The second way is for more advanced users that can use our tracking web service. The main difference here is that there is no image to place on your site. You will also be able to get more information about your visitors, see when search engine bots are on your site, and it is a bit more accurate too.
Installation Process
The entire process generally only takes a few minutes and consists of the following steps:
- Download the ecommStats script file for your site and upload it to your web server where your site resides.
- Add a few lines of code to each page on your site that will look something like the example below. If you have a header and/or footer include file, then you just need to put the code into one of those and will not have to add it to each page.
- Upload the changed pages to your seb server and you're done!
